Gurman Bhatia is the founder and director of Revisual Labs, India’s first information design agency dedicated to helping organisations transform complex data into impactful and engaging communication. With over a decade of experience at the intersection of data, storytelling, and design, Gurman is passionate about advancing the science and craft of data visualisation in India and beyond.
Before founding Revisual Labs, Gurman spent six years in leading newsrooms, including Reuters in Singapore, Hindustan Times in Delhi, and prominent US outlets such as the Palm Beach Post and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Her work in these spaces earned international recognition, including awards from the Online News Association, the Malofiej Infographic Summit, The Webby Awards, SND Best of Digital Design, and the GEN Data Journalism Awards.
Since transitioning to independent work in 2021, Gurman has trained over 1,000 professionals in data storytelling and information design, equipping them with the tools to leverage data for advocacy and better decision-making. This passion culminated in the founding of Revisual Labs in 2023, where Gurman leads a team of designers, developers, and storytellers to craft data stories and products across different mediums.
Gurman holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University, New York, and is a self-taught coder and designer. Her mission is to democratise data literacy in India, empowering individuals and organisations to communicate with clarity, purpose, and creativity.
